Lawrence Community Symphonic Band students strive for a high level of musical performance in an environment driven by collaboration and camaraderie. Middle and high school woodwind, brass, and percussion musicians develop life skills that support a high level of musical performance, including confidence, patience, independence, and communication. No audition is required, although band members should have at least two years of experience on their instrument.
Two ten-week semesters each culminate with a performance on the stage of the Lawrence Memorial Chapel. Symphonic Band is an appropriate first step for students who wish to play in the Lawrence Community Wind Ensemble, our auditioned honors band.

“The musicians here are driven by a mutual passion for music—both the teachers and students alike are exceptional musicians that take music seriously and truly respect what it means to be an ensemble. The pieces that the bands play are a great challenge, and I really appreciate being given the opportunity to sharpen my skills as a musician.”
